Executive Profile: Katalina Cruz on taking a leap into property management

She’s the COO of Doral-based m2e Client, KW Property Management & Consulting, which manages over 70,000 residential units and has grown from 700 to 1,300 employees over the past two years. Many of its clients are high-rise condos.

How did you become interested in accounting and finance? I was always very interested in business, even as a young child. I [took] business classes in middle school [and at] Braddock Senior High. I was part of Future Business Leaders of America. I would attend competitions related to accounting. I had wonderful teachers that really took the time to sit and explain it to me. Right after high school, I started to work as a bookkeeper in a small company.
