Summary / Objective
  • In charge of highly complex professional engineering projects with considerable independence. Leads group of engineers and technicians, responsible for budget and manpower estimates. Ensures that work performed and materials used comply with safety, engineering, and applicable Codes and Standards.
Essential Functions
  • Supervises the implementation of the design and construction of the projects; coordinates the acquisition of field data; designs improvements; implements bid process.
  • Supervises and manages project engineering consultants; prepares and manages timetable activities; coordinates the design and preparation of construction plans and specifications. Responsible for budget and manpower estimates.
  • Handles requests for information, service or complaints over the phone, via electronic or regular mail and in person, or makes referrals to appropriate staff in a concerned manner that reflects an effort to be helpful while at the same time acting responsibly on behalf of M2E; all calls are promptly returned.
  • Develops and recommends standard operating procedures and performance standards utilized by the Division. Monitors operations and activities in the field to help assure standard operating procedures are followed and performance standards are met.
  • Reviews project documentation and reports prepared by divisional staff for accuracy and completeness. As well as preparing necessary reports.

  • Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions.
  • Plans multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks & completes project on time and within budget.
  • Provides input for long range planning to establish future manpower needs.
  • Strictly adheres to the office standards policies and project schedules. Informs, in a timely manner, department head regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work.
  • Learning is a required assignment for all employees.
  • 4-7 years of post-undergraduate degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating.
Education Level & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or documented equivalent of education and professional experience in related engineering field.
  • Active Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or active registration in another state with the ability to reciprocate to Florida within six months of beginning employment.
  • Possession of a valid inspector license (building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
  • Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Education Area
  • Preferred mechanical, electrical, civil, or structural.
  • Knowledgeable in all technical areas of design, construction and management, or having a demonstrated ability to achieve that level of proficiency in a short period of time.
  • Effectively training people within and/or outside his/her work group/team.
  • Providing guidance to the group/team.
  • Giving effective presentations to critical/high level customers.
  • Writing convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.
  • Managing multiple projects involving multiple teams or groups.
  • Identifying problems and actively devising appropriate solutions, particularly those dealing with manpower and budget.
