Summary / Objective
  • To perform basic professional and technical engineering tasks ranging from inspections, reporting, plan preparation/review to contract administration, under direct supervision of Staff Engineer II.
Essential Functions
  • Review drawings, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules and other work for accuracy, presentation and conformance with established construction/engineering practices and applicable codes and standards.
  • Perform field observations of construction projects to monitor progress and verify conformance to design drawings/specifications and applicable codes and standards.
  • Prepare detailed written reports of performed field observations identifying any deviation and non-conformance with the design drawings/specifications and applicable codes and standards.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor as requested by the Client in order to determine feasibility of proposed retrofit and/or repair.
  • Attend various internal and external meetings regarding assigned projects or issues and respond to questions and inquiries from various individuals, groups, organizations or companies regarding wide range of engineering topics and issues.
  • Strictly adheres to the office standards policies and project schedules. Informs timely project manager and/or department head regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work.
  • Learning is a required assignment for all employees.
  • 0-2 years of post-undergraduate degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating.
Education Level & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or documented equivalent of education and professional experience in related engineering field.
  • Possession of a registration as an Engineer Intern (EIT).
  • Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.
Education Area
  • Preferred mechanical, electrical, civil, or structural.
  • Basic techniques for preparing designs, plans, specifications, reports and recommendations related to the engineering profession.
  • Fundamental/Basic principles and practices regarding building construction and engineering.
  • Learning, interpreting and applying City, State and Federal Codes, Laws and Regulations and M2E policies pertaining to the assigned tasks/projects.
  • Operating personal computer and various software applications (ACAD, MS Office, MS Project, etc.).
  • Providing efficient customer service and communicating clearly and objectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Organizing with the ability to prioritize work and exercise independent judgement, wisdom, common sense and initiative.
  • Thoroughly carrying out oral and written instructions.
  • Reading and interpreting plans and specifications.
