Summary / Objective
  • In charge of highly complex professional architectural projects with considerable independence. Responsible for budget and scheduling timelines. Ensures that work performed and materials used comply with safety, engineering, and applicable Codes and Standards.
Essential Functions
  • Plans and mobilizes for site investigations and field testing.
  • Conducts on-site investigations to document existing conditions and performs field testing, photographing, and the creation of hand sketches.
  • Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving.
  • Researches historical background of structure, technical issues, and code issues.
  • Analyzes research and investigation data and develops alternate schemes for solving problems.
  • Assists with the preparation of investigation reports and bid documents, including drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Attends field meetings and prepares site observation reports.
  • Handles requests for information, service or complaints over the phone, via electronic or regular mail and in person, or makes referrals to appropriate staff in a concerned manner that reflects an effort to be helpful while at the same time acting responsibly on behalf of M2E; all calls are promptly returned.
  • Reviews project documentation and reports prepared by divisional staff for accuracy and completeness. As well as preparing necessary reports and maintaining project records.
  • Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions.
  • Provides input for long range planning to establish future manpower needs.
  • Learning is a required assignment for all employees.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Competency and a strong interest in performing forensic investigations, and solving problems in existing structures, rather than in new design.
  • Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, structural analysis programs, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong competency in report writing.
  • Ability and interest in performing work in the field.
  • Ability to travel outside local area, depending on local workload and project locations.
  • Licensure as an Architect and ability to obtain similar licensure in Florida within six months of employment.
  • 5-10 years of experience, as well as AutoCAD, Project Management & Observation, which must have involved construction, design, inspection or estimating.
Education Level & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree of Architecture or Architectural Engineering Required
  • Master’s Degree of Architecture or Architectural Engineering Preferred
  • Licensed Architect
  • Knowledgeable in all technical areas of design, construction and management, or having a demonstrated ability to achieve that level of proficiency in a short period of time.
  • Effectively training people within and/or outside his/her work group/team.
  • Providing guidance to the group/team.
  • Giving effective presentations to critical/high level customers.
  • Writing convincing proposals and reports with all necessary backup material for external consumption.
  • Managing multiple projects involving multiple teams or groups.
  • Identifying problems and actively devising appropriate solutions, particularly those dealing with manpower and budget.
