Condo Collapse in Surfside Triggers Fear in Coastal Cities
“As the world spotlight shines on Surfside’s condo collapse,” the Sun Sentinel published a story on how, “other coastal cities in South Florida are asking the question: Could it happen here?” President Miroslav “Misha” Mladenović is featured in the article addressing how “South Florida is a challenging environment not friendly to building materials in general.”
“We have water to the east — the ocean,” he said. “We have water to the west — the Everglades. We have underground water — the aquifer; and we have water above — hurricanes.”
Our team at m2e Consulting Engineers, just like so many others, continues to be devastated by this tragedy and the victims forever remain in our thoughts and prayers. We remain committed to honor their memory and work hard to advocate for quality, responsible engineering, construction, and maintenance that is safe in the hopes of preventing anything like this from happening again.
Our hearts go out to those affected. A 501c3 TAX DEDUCTIBLE emergency fund has been set up by a local synagogue to directly help those affected by this tragedy. Please consider donating.
